Galatasaray is planning to make a bid for Italian midfielder Jorginho, who is struggling to get playing time at Arsenal. According to reports from Italian media outlet TMW, the Turkish giants are considering a transfer offer for the experienced player, who has been on the bench for Arsenal’s first three Premier League matches. Jorginho has not featured in Arsenal’s opening three matches against Wolverhampton, Aston Villa, and Brighton. Galatasaray is reportedly aiming to reunite Jorginho with his former Napoli teammates, Victor Osimhen and Dries Mertens, as part of their transfer strategy.
Arsenal extended Jorginho’s contract for another year in May 2024. The Italian midfielder’s current deal runs until June 2025, but the club holds a one-year extension option.
The 32-year-old Jorginho was not included in the latest Italy national team squad for the upcoming matches against France and Israel due to his poor performance at EURO 2024. The Italian star moved from Chelsea to Arsenal in January 2023. He has played 57 matches for the Italian national team, scoring five goals and contributing to Italy’s victory in EURO 2020.
