Galatasaray Officially Announced Roland Sallai Transfer!

Galatasaray turned its attention to Germany after the Nicola Zalewski transfer in Italy hit a roadblock. The club quickly reached an agreement with Freiburg’s Hungarian winger, Roland Sallai, and finalized the transfer. Galatasaray will pay a transfer fee of 6 million Euros to the German club Freiburg, while Sallai will earn 2.5 million Euros annually under a four-season contract. The 27-year-old player is expected to watch today’s match against Rizespor from the stands.

Galatasaray experienced surprising developments on the last day of the transfer window. The club had been in negotiations for several days with AS Roma and Polish winger Nicola Zalewski but could not finalize the deal. Although Galatasaray reached an agreement on the transfer fee with the Italian club, the player and his agent presented new demands, causing the negotiations to break down. Following this, Galatasaray shifted its focus to Germany and started negotiations with Freiburg for Roland Sallai.

Transfer Fee of 6 Million Euros

Galatasaray, which had previously been in contact with Freiburg and Hungarian winger Roland Sallai, finalized the transfer in the final hours. The club agreed to pay Freiburg a 6 million Euro transfer fee and signed a four-season contract with the 27-year-old Hungarian player for an annual salary of 2.5 million Euros.

Official Statement to Public Disclosure Platform (KAP)

In Galatasaray’s official statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the following details were shared:
“An agreement has been reached with professional football player Roland Sallai and his club, Sport-Club Freiburg e.V., regarding the player’s transfer. Accordingly, a transfer fee of 6,000,000 Euros will be paid to the player’s former club in four installments spread over four seasons. An agreement has been reached with the player for four seasons starting from the 2024-2025 season, with a net salary of 2,500,000 Euros for each football season. Respectfully announced to the public.”

Roland Sallai’s Bundesliga Performance

After reaching a preliminary agreement, Galatasaray brought Roland Sallai to Istanbul by private jet in the evening and quickly completed the license, contract, and other procedures. The Hungarian player is expected to be in the stands for today’s match against Rizespor. This season, Sallai has appeared in two official Bundesliga matches with Freiburg.
