Isaiah Thomas Believes He Can Still Play in the NBA After Attending Training Camps

Isaiah Thomas Believes He Still Has What It Takes for the NBA

Isaiah Thomas, who attended training camps with the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings this summer, remains confident that he can still contribute in the NBA. The veteran point guard is determined to play for two or three more seasons despite the challenges he faces.

In an interview with Dylan Ackermann of Cronkite News, Thomas expressed his enduring passion for basketball and his belief that his NBA journey is not over. “I just enjoy the process, but I know what I’m fighting against,” Thomas said. “I’ve had that same fight my whole life. This is just another stage I have to get by.”

At 34, Thomas remains committed to proving his doubters wrong: “I really want to just play two or three more years and then focus on my kids. That’s the ultimate goal, and we’re just going to keep fighting until the end.”

Thomas emphasized his lifelong dedication to basketball, saying, “Basketball has been my life. I’ve focused on one thing my whole life, most people don’t focus on something that long. I love the process—the good, the bad. I’m still at an age where I can play at a high level.”

Though it’s uncertain whether his efforts in training camps with the Bucks and Kings will secure him a roster spot, Thomas remains optimistic.

“I believe in myself more than anybody would,” he concluded. “Why not keep going and show the world what perseverance looks like, what fighting through adversity looks like—and do it with a smile on your face.”
