JOS VERSTAPPEN: “MAX SHOULD NOT CHANGE HIS DRIVING STYLE”

Jos Verstappen criticized the FIA and the stewards following the 20-second penalty given to Max Verstappen.

The father of Max Verstappen commented on his son’s 20-second penalty in the last race. While acknowledging that some of Max’s actions might be controversial, Jos argued that his son should not change his racing style based on steward decisions.

Jos Verstappen stated: “Max should be able to drive as he wishes because the car is not competitive enough right now, and he is doing everything he can to win the championship.”

“If you watch Max’s moves, the second one may have gone too far. However, Max should not alter his driving style because of some stewards who do not like him.”

He also emphasized that the FIA should pay attention to whether their preferred stewards have conflicts of interest, noting that former drivers may show bias in decision-making against certain drivers.

Jos Verstappen pointed out that the large run-off areas on the tracks make it easier for drivers to go off the racing line, stating, “Gravel traps could make a big difference in solving this issue.”

“Still, the most important thing for Max is that the car is not performing well. You can see this from his teammate’s performance. Even Haas was faster than Red Bull in the race,” he added.
