Lionel Messi Sets New Record with Stunning Hat-Trick for Argentina Against Bolivia

During Argentina’s 6-0 victory over Bolivia in the 2026 CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, Lionel Messi continued his historic streak of scoring hat tricks. Messi’s effort equaled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most international hat-tricks while setting new records himself.

Argentina won handily thanks to Messi’s outstanding performance; the Inter Miami star netted three goals and added two assists. By doing this, Messi confirmed his status as the best player in the world of football by matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of ten international hat-tricks.

Messi became the first player in history to score three hat-tricks in South American World Cup qualifying, in addition to matching Ronaldo. Along with becoming the third player in competition history to score two hat-tricks against the same national team, the Argentine captain joined an elite group that included Brazilian legends Tostao (against Venezuela) and Zico (against Bolivia).
