Pep Guardiola’s Ballon d’Or Response! ‘Journalists Decided’
Following Rodri’s selection as Player of the Year at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Real Madrid’s boycott drew attention.
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola broke his silence after the Ballon d’Or ceremony, addressing the long-standing claims regarding Vinicius Junior’s chances of winning the award.
Commenting on Rodri’s win, Guardiola said:
“Should Vinicius have won? Maybe, yes. But Rodri won, and that’s it. Journalists decided, not a group of elite people. There are different opinions all over the world, which is why football is beautiful, and everyone talks about it.”
REAL MADRID DID NOT ATTEND THE CEREMONY
According to AS, Real Madrid management reportedly stated, “If the award’s criteria don’t declare Vinicius the winner, then by the same criteria, Carvajal should be the winner. Since that’s not the case, it’s clear the Ballon d’Or and UEFA don’t respect Real Madrid. And Real Madrid doesn’t attend where it is not respected.”
