Surprise Head Coach for the England National Team

Lee Carsley has been appointed as the interim head coach of the England National Football Team, following the departure of Gareth Southgate. Carsley was previously in charge of the England Under-21 National Team.

In an announcement from the English Football Association, it was confirmed that Lee Carsley would take over the head coach role on a temporary basis after Gareth Southgate’s departure.

Carsley will lead the team in the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches starting in September, while the search for a permanent head coach continues.

The 50-year-old English coach, who played for clubs such as Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, and Everton during his playing career, has been managing the England Under-21 National Team since 2021.
