Samsunspor Head Coach Thomas Reis made statements before their match against Gaziantep FK on Sunday, August 18th, in the 2nd week of the Süper Lig.

Speaking to the press, Reis said, “We believe we showed a very good performance in the first week against Beşiktaş. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the result we wanted and couldn’t score a goal. Now, we’ll play against Gaziantep away. The Antep match will be different because they won their first game, and they did it while playing with ten men. We’ll try to replicate our performance from the Beşiktaş match and aim for the best possible result. We’ll try to win.”

‘OUR YOUNG PLAYERS CONTINUE TO LEARN EVERY WEEK’
Talking about the young players in Samsunspor, Reis commented, “We have young and talented players like Bedirhan. In the final stages of the Beşiktaş match, we substituted Bedirhan for Satka, who was tired and requested to be replaced. He had a long injury period, and as he felt fatigued, we decided to bring Bedirhan in. Our young players continue to learn every week, and this makes us happy. I hope they will continue to improve and earn more chances to play in the starting XI. I’m happy to have such quality young players.”

‘WE NEED TO CARRY THE GOOD THINGS WE DID AGAINST BEŞİKTAŞ TO THE GAZİANTEP MATCH’
Responding to a question from the press about Samsunspor’s poor away performance last season, Reis said, “Yes, I know that last season, Samsunspor struggled in away games, but now we have started a new season. We will play against a good team, Antep. It will be a different match from the Beşiktaş game. We need to carry the good things we did in the Beşiktaş match to this game as well. We need to continue doing what we did well and fix what we did poorly. Every match in the league will definitely be very difficult. For this reason, we must not lose focus.”

‘WE NEED TO FEEL THE SUPPORT OF OUR FANS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON’
Lastly, touching on the support of the Samsunspor fans in the Beşiktaş match, Reis said, “The support of our fans was incredible. But we shouldn’t limit this to just one match. We will need them throughout the entire season. As a coaching staff, we need to support our players. We also need to feel the support of our fans throughout the season. Hopefully, we can bring them more joy by earning points, and in doing so, we can stay in the Süper Lig, which is our goal.”
