USMNT and Norwich Striker Josh Sargent Out for Two Months Following Groin Surgery
Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup stated on Monday that US international Josh Sargent will miss the next two months following groin surgery. Sargent will miss the forthcoming international break, including the USMNT’s Nations League quarterfinal against Jamaica, due to his injury. This development adds to Mauricio Pochettino’s striker concerns, since Folarin Balogun is also out due to a shoulder issue.
The setback comes at a terrible time for Sargent, who has been in excellent form for Norwich this season, scoring nine goals in 12 games. This follows a productive prior season in which he scored 16 goals in 26 games despite injury setbacks. In his absence, Pochettino may look to alternate possibilities such as Haji Wright, Brandon Vasquez, and Ricardo Pepi as he hunts for a solution up front.
What Thorup Said
Speaking on the situation, Thorup stated:
“He [Sargent] is going to require surgery, so we’re looking at eight weeks. It’s not the ideal scenario for anybody, but we have options and possibilities for other players to come in.”
