Yarının Sultanları’s First Stop in the New Season: Igdır

The first stage of the “Yarının Sultanları” project, launched by VakifBank Head Coach Giovanni Guidetti to inspire girls to look to the future with hope, took place in Igdir this season with the sponsorship of VakifBank and the support of Possible.

Giovanni Guidetti and his assistants Saim Pakkan, Fikret Ceylan, and Ilker Altan provided theoretical and practical volleyball training to girls at Kazım Karabekir Sports Hall. The event, organized with the contributions of the Igdir Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, was attended by Igdir Governor Ercan Turan, VakifBank Sports Club General Manager Banu Can Schurmann, and Club Director Levent Ozvarnalı.

This season’s first stage of the “Yarının Sultanları” project aims to bring volleyball-filled days to girls from the easternmost to the westernmost parts of Turkey. In Igdir, alongside Giovanni Guidetti, VakifBank Sports Club’s assistant coaches Saim Pakkan, Fikret Ceylan, and Ilker Altan participated in the training sessions. General Manager Banu Can Schurmann and Club Director Levent Ozvarnalı also took part in the activities to support the project.

Children Followed Practical and Theoretical Training with Interest

With the support of the Igdir Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Giovanni Guidetti and his assistants met with girls from Igdir center and surrounding districts in two different groups. During the training sessions, the children showed great interest. The girls had the opportunity to learn many facts about volleyball during the theoretical and practical training, and they followed the question-and-answer session with curiosity after the activities. Guidetti aims to provide the necessary morale and motivation for girls to succeed not only in sports but also in their social lives.

“We Want to Be a Light in Front of Girls’ Dreams”

Giovanni Guidetti, the founder of the “Yarının Sultanları” project and VakifBank Head Coach, stated about Igdir, “We came to Igdir for the first stage of this season’s project. We are trying to go to every region of Turkey as much as possible. I feel very lucky to work in a country that loves volleyball so much and to live in such a beautiful place. Therefore, we embarked on this journey believing that our shared passion for volleyball is an important tool. Just like in other cities, we were welcomed beautifully in Igdir. Being with dozens of children who want to learn volleyball always makes me happy. What’s important here is to provide them with added value in their lives through volleyball and to be a light for them to achieve their dreams.”

Banu Can Schurmann: It is Valuable to Reach Girls Who Love Volleyball

VakifBank Club Manager Banu Can Schurmann stated, “Reaching girls who love volleyball is very valuable for both the future of volleyball and awareness. In Igdir, where we came for the first stage of the new season, we saw that there is great interest in volleyball, just like in other cities.
