Michael Frey Inspires QPR to Key Win at Loftus Road
Michael Frey marked his first start since October with a goal to lead QPR to a vital 3-1 Championship victory over Watford at Loftus Road. The rejuvenated Rangers, now unbeaten in nine of their last ten games, extended their cushion to eight points above the relegation zone.
Frey Leads the Way
The Swiss striker wasted no time making an impact, sweeping in Kieran Morgan’s pull-back in the fifth minute to give QPR an early lead. Frey’s physical presence and sharp finishing were crucial during an influential 60-minute performance.
Towering defender Jimmy Dunne doubled the hosts’ advantage with a far-post header before the interval, converting a pinpoint cross from Ilias Chair.
Watford Struggle Despite Late Fightback
Kwadwo Baah gave Watford hope early in the second half with a deflected strike, but QPR responded immediately. Sam Field nodded in from close range after a teasing cross by Paul Smyth, restoring their two-goal cushion.
Watford, now with just one away win in their last ten league matches, missed chances to close the gap:
