RENAULT TO LEAVE FORMULA 1 AT THE END OF 2025!

This development had been on the agenda for some time, but it was officially confirmed on Monday: Renault will cease to be a Formula 1 engine supplier after the 2025 season.

The plan to end Renault’s Formula 1 engine project became clear in recent months. The deadline for the decision was set for September 30th, and the official news came on Monday: despite opposition from employees at the Viry-Châtillon facility, Renault will exit F1 at the end of 2025. The facility, currently used for F1 power unit development, will be converted into the Hypertech Alpine high-tech engineering center by the end of 2024.

The Hypertech Alpine center will focus on developing future Alpine supercars, as well as electric battery and motor technologies. Additionally, following discussions with representatives of the F1 project’s personnel, an F1 Monitoring Unit will be established to retain expertise and utilize it in other Hypertech Alpine projects.

The current Formula 1 power unit campus will be transformed into an engineering center for this purpose, and all employees will be offered job opportunities within the new structure.

The Alpine F1 team will continue to compete in Formula 1 beyond 2025, but negotiations with new engine suppliers are yet to be finalized. Sources indicate that Alpine is planning to use Mercedes power units post-2025, and discussions are nearing completion.
