Ruben Amorim Breaks Silence on Claims He Could Replace Guardiola at Man City

The manager of Sporting CP, Ruben Amorim, has responded to reports that he would replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City by moving with Hugo Viana. As Guardiola’s contract with City draws to a conclusion and the team starts to look at possible successors, speculation has been growing.

The current Manchester City contract of Pep Guardiola expires at the end of the 2024–25 campaign, and the Spaniard has not yet signed an extension. This has sparked a lot of conjecture about who would replace him, with Ruben Amorim—who has achieved remarkable success at Sporting CP—being named as one of the leading contenders.

In an interview with Cabine Desportiva, Amorim dismissed any assumptions that Hugo Viana’s recent appointment at Manchester City would pave the way for him to join the Premier League champions.

“Hugo Viana and me, we have different and separate paths. His appointment doesn’t mean that I’m going to Man City. We have a very good professional relationship.” Amorim clarified.
