Ruben Amorim Moves to Clarify ‘Worst Manchester United Team in History’ Rant

Ruben Amorim Responds to Criticism After Manchester United’s Defeat to Brighton

Head Coach Aims to Rebuild Confidence Ahead of Europa League Clash

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has addressed his controversial comments following the team’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. In a post-match outburst, Ruben Amorim labeled his current squad as the “worst Manchester United team in history,” a statement that quickly drew backlash. Now, Ruben Amorim has sought to clarify his remarks, admitting that his frustrations were directed more at himself than his players.

Manchester United’s Loss to Brighton Sparks Controversy

Manchester United’s defeat to Brighton ended a streak of positive results and reignited questions about the team’s direction under Ruben Amorim. Following the loss, Amorim expressed his anger by damaging a television in the dressing room before making his infamous public comments.

“I was talking more for myself than for my players,” Ruben Amorim explained during a press conference on Wednesday. “Because you have a coach who starts out losing seven games in the first ten. So it’s more for me. I was talking more about me than the players.”

The head coach clarified that his intention was not to criticize the players’ abilities but rather to highlight his own responsibility for the team’s poor form.

Ruben Amorim Accepts Accountability

In his remarks, Amorim took ownership of the struggles Manchester United have faced this season. He acknowledged that the team’s poor performances stem from issues beyond just the players’ contributions.

“What I’m saying is that the message you guys show is I was putting it on the players. What I was saying is you have to look really hard for a Manchester United team that has lost seven out of ten games, and that is on me,” Amorim stated.

He emphasized that his role as head coach makes him the primary figure responsible for both the team’s performances and results.

Addressing Frustrations: Ruben Amorim’s Honest Reflection

Amorim admitted that his frustrations got the better of him after the Brighton match, leading to comments that he now regrets.

“Sometimes it’s really hard to hide the frustration in the moment. But the good thing is I said the same things in a different way in the dressing room five minutes before,” he revealed.

Despite the heated post-match atmosphere, Amorim assured fans and media that the team remains united. He explained that his blunt communication style is consistent both privately and publicly.

“I’m really blunt with my players. They trained well, they are ready for this game, and let’s see tomorrow.”

Ruben Amorim on Manchester United’s Challenges

Amorim shed light on the challenges his team is facing, pointing to nerves and anxiety as significant factors in their struggles.

“The way we play, we are too nervous with the ball, too nervous, really anxious,” he explained. “When you follow in this type of context, it’s really hard to go up, especially in a massive club. That was my only point.”

He also noted that the current roster’s limited experience adds to the difficulty of overcoming these challenges.

Acknowledging Mistakes and Apologizing for Outbursts

In addition to clarifying his comments, Amorim apologized for his actions in the dressing room, particularly for damaging a television out of frustration.

“I’m a young guy, and sometimes I make a mistake. That’s why I don’t talk after the game. This game, I needed to talk, and maybe it was a mistake,” he admitted.

Amorim pledged to learn from the incident, although he candidly acknowledged that similar mistakes could happen again.

“I don’t promise you I won’t do it again, but I will try to improve.”

Looking Ahead: Manchester United’s Europa League Clash

As Manchester United prepare for their upcoming Europa League clash against Rangers, Amorim is focused on rebuilding the team’s confidence and addressing the issues that have plagued their recent performances.

He assured fans that the team is ready to respond positively, both on and off the pitch, despite the ongoing challenges.

“I am saying in this moment we are performing really bad, and our results are really bad in the moment. It is everything together—the players, the staff, the technical staff. I am the biggest responsible for the performance and the results because I am the coach and I have that responsibility.”
