Ruud van Nistelrooy Eyes Coventry City Role After Old Trafford Exit

Ruud van Nistelrooy is looking to extend his stay in England by applying for the head coach position at Coventry City, just days after leaving his role at Manchester United. The Dutch legend’s return to United in the summer saw him initially join as an assistant coach under Erik ten Hag. However, after Ten Hag’s dismissal, van Nistelrooy stepped in as interim manager, leading the team to an unbeaten record in four matches, including victories against Leicester City and PAOK.

Despite his successful tenure as interim head coach, incoming United manager Ruben Amorim opted to revamp the coaching setup, bringing in his own staff from Sporting Lisbon. This decision left van Nistelrooy without a role at Old Trafford.

Competing for Coventry Role

Now, van Nistelrooy has reportedly submitted his application to manage Championship side Coventry City. He faces stiff competition for the role, with former Chelsea and Everton manager Frank Lampard also linked to the position.
