Samsunspor has achieved a significant success by collecting 18 points with 6 wins in the first 8 weeks of the league for the first time in its 59-year history.

Samsunspor stepped into professional leagues for the first time in the 1965-66 season. After spending its first season in the 1st League, now known as the Super League, during the 1969-70 season, the Black Sea team finished the season in 6th place, becoming the first team from the Black Sea region to compete in this league.

After competing in this league for five seasons, the Samsun team faced ups and downs starting from the 1974-75 season when they were relegated. Having the opportunity to compete in the Super League for 19 seasons in its 59-year history, Samsunspor had its best start in the 1987-1988 season. The red-and-white team recorded 5 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss in the first 8 weeks, accumulating 17 points, breaking its record after 36 years.

German coach Reis Achieved a 2.25 Points Average
After only collecting 1 point in the first 8 weeks of the last season, the Samsun team began the season by signing with German coach Thomas Reis. Starting the season without transfers due to FIFA’s two-year ban, the red-and-white team lost 2-0 to Besiktas in Reis’s first official match in charge.

Samsun team then won 1-0 against Gaziantep FK and 3-0 against Atakaş Hatayspor in consecutive away matches but suffered their second loss at home to TUMOSAN Konyaspor, losing 1-0. Afterward, the Samsun team began to secure a series of victories, managing to beat RAMS Başakşehir 2-0, Caykur Rizespor 1-0, Goztepe 4-3, and finally Adana Demirspor 3-1.

Samsunspor recorded its best start in history with 18 points in the first 8 matches under German coach Thomas Reis, who achieved a 2.25 points average.
