Selcuk Aydin Announces Candidacy for President of Turkish Boxing Federation

Selcuk Aydin, a candidate for the presidency of the Turkish Boxing Federation, held a promotional meeting in Ankara where he outlined his proposed solutions and projects for the issues facing the boxing community. He stated that if elected president in the general assembly on November 12, he would transform the federation into a corporate organization.

During the promotional meeting at a hotel in Ankara, Aydin shared his plans for the future if he is elected president. Aydin, who won a gold medal at the 2003 European Union Amateur Boxing Championship, recalled being involved in boxing since the age of 10, saying, “As someone who has been in the ring, I am aware of the expectations, problems, and opportunities of athletes, coaches, sports clubs, administrators, the federation, and all stakeholders related to boxing in the world. I was born into boxing, grew up with boxing, and will continue to live with boxing as long as I have life. We are ready to serve our community with an ethical and fair management approach that prioritizes all elements, is qualified, open to change and development, solution-oriented, accessible 24/7, impartial, productive, and, most importantly, transparent without marginalizing anyone.”

Aydin, 41, expressed his desire to elevate Turkish boxing to the level it deserves in the world by working together with all stakeholders in the boxing community, emphasizing a “we” rather than “I” mentality. He listed his main projects as follows:

• Establishing a corporate organization for the federation’s management.
• Introducing specific criteria for the selection of national team coaches and technical staff to ensure fairness.
• Providing in-kind and financial support to clubs based on their activities and successes.
• Offering health and performance support to national teams.
• Rewarding athletes and coaches who place in competitions, as well as high-scoring referees and clubs.
• Conducting research and development (R&D) studies for athletes, coaches, health teams, and technical staff through academic, scientific, and practical studies.
• Providing accommodation, meals, and support for athletes, coaches, and referees at national championships.
• Establishing a consultation union among provincial branch representatives and organizing periodic consultation meetings with provincial representatives, coaches, and all stakeholders.
• Constructing new training centers in suitable regions of the country.
