Senol Gunes apologized at Trabzonspor!

In the 10th week of the Trendyol Super Lig, Goztepe defeated Trabzonspor 2-1 at home. After the match, Senol Gunes issued an apology to the Bordo-Mavili fans and football supporters.

Trabzonspor, losing 2-1 to Goztepe, who played much of the match with 10 men, caused major disappointment. Following the defeat, Senol Gunes emphasized that there was nothing left to say and apologized to the fans.

Trabzonspor head coach Senol Gunes said after the match:

“I can’t find the words to say, I’m responsible. The players are trying to do their best. We were ineffective in offensive and defensive positions.

The opponent won, we must congratulate them. After 1-1, we thought we would score, but we weren’t at 100% effort. If you work, God helps you, but this was a massive disappointment. We apologize to the fans and football supporters. It can’t get worse than this.”

Emphasizing that they were greatly disappointed, Gunes said, “We came here with the desire to win, but we are leaving with a complete disappointment. While trying to respond to the opponent, we lost the ball many times. Goztepe was down to 10 men, and we still couldn’t reach the goal. In the second half, we made 3 substitutions, and we attacked partially at that point. The opponent wanted it very much. Tonight, we conceded 2 goals, and we had many ball losses. We couldn’t recover the ball well either; it was a bad defeat. We are experiencing great disappointment because of this result,” he said.

Emphasizing that Goztepe wanted it more than they did, Senol Gunes said, “We couldn’t respond to the opponent’s determined play. The opponent was resilient. We conceded a second goal in an unexpected way. I am responsible for the result. I can’t blame my players. We cannot say we were successful. If we are assigning tasks to the players, those decisions are mine, and my choices were wrong. We must fight as well, but we couldn’t respond to Goztepe’s play. There is negativity within the team, and we need to make some decisions to solve it. Based on the players’ condition, the team is not progressing like this. We’ve been seeing this for a few weeks. Unfortunately, we haven’t made progress in our playing style. Today, we couldn’t press forward, and we made simple mistakes in defense. We were also ineffective in attack. If we keep experiencing this frequently, it means we are not showing a good image. We need new decisions, and we will make them somehow,” he said.

Noting that they had suffered many losses, Senol Gunes continued his words:
“Instead of complaining, we must make new decisions. With the decisions we make, we will see which starting 11 we will put on the field and which squad we will field for the match.
