Sentences Demanded for Attackers of Serhat Akin Revealed

An indictment has been prepared regarding the armed attack on former national footballer Serhat Akın, with prosecutors seeking prison sentences ranging from 6.5 to 20 years for seven suspects.

Following the shooting of Serhat Akın in Beykoz, the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office completed its investigation. The indictment charges E.Ü and O.M with “attempted premeditated murder,” requesting prison sentences of 13 to 20 years. Additionally, H.Ş faces the same charges for “instigating attempted premeditated murder.”

Other suspects, Y.G, İ.T, and M.A, are charged with “aiding in attempted premeditated murder” and face 6.5 to 8 years in prison. Meanwhile, O.D faces charges of “attempted premeditated murder” and violating the Firearms Act, with prosecutors seeking 14 to 23 years in prison.

The indictment, approved by the prosecution, has been sent to the Istanbul Anadolu 23rd Heavy Penal Court.

In a previously prepared dossier, it was noted that the attack on Akın was meticulously planned. Surveillance footage confirmed that a pre-attack reconnaissance was conducted at the scene. Akın was shot from a distance of 3-4 meters, and the forensic report indicated that the injuries were severe, with a significant impact on Akın’s life functions.

The investigation revealed that the suspects, operating under instructions from H.Ş, who is also wanted for a separate murder, coordinated the attack. O.D was identified as the shooter, while O.M facilitated his escape on a motorcycle.
