A sponsorship agreement was signed between Turkish Airlines (THY) and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). The signing ceremony took place in the VIP hall of THY’s headquarters, attended by TFF President İbrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu and THY Chairman Ahmet Bolat.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hacıosmanoğlu stated that THY is a globally recognized brand and emphasized their efforts to enhance the brand value of Turkish football. He reminded attendees that THY will provide transportation for the national team during the 2026 World Cup, expressing gratitude for the special requests made to Bolat. He noted, “We inherited a federation that is challenging both morally and financially. Turkish football is followed not only by the Turkish people but also by Islamic countries.”
Bolat added, “Our federation works to elevate our country’s football success for both men and women. While our platforms may differ, our goals are the same: to serve our nation, make them proud, and contribute to humanity and the welfare of our people through unity. As THY, we support 16 federations across various sports to develop sports in our country and proudly represent them wherever they go. Our support ranges from football to handball, volleyball to cycling, bridging distances for our country and our people.”
Bolat emphasized THY’s contributions to the economy, stating:
“In 2024, with the new routes we will open, we will expand our flight network to 351 destinations and increase our passenger count to 86 million. This year, our fleet will exceed 480 aircraft, our workforce will surpass 90,000, and the cargo we carry will exceed 1.9 million tons. Our brand, which carried 10 million passengers in 2003 and ranked 39th in the world in terms of passenger kilometers, will reach 171 million passengers by 2033. We are talking about Turkish Airlines, which has increased its fleet nearly sevenfold, passenger count by more than eight times, and economic contribution by 11 times compared to 20 years ago. As you can see from our 2033 goals, we are transforming into a giant and rising to the peak of aviation. Compared to 2003, our fleet will grow by 12.5 times, our passenger count by 16.4 times, and our economic contribution will increase by 29 times. In 2023, our country achieved over 255 billion dollars in exports, breaking a century-old record. As Turkish Airlines, we generated nearly 21 billion dollars in revenue and recorded over 16 billion dollars in service exports, with 8 billion dollars remaining in our country.”
Bolat highlighted that THY carried 13.3 million of the 56 million tourists who visited Turkey last year, adding, “Our contribution through tourists reached 12.5 billion dollars. Our national flag carrier achieved a revenue of 20.9 billion dollars last year, contributing a total of 56 billion dollars to our country’s economy. These figures will rise even higher this year. When we achieve our 2033 goals, our total contribution will reach 144 billion dollars, and our total contribution from 2023 to 2033 will reach 1.1 trillion dollars.”
After the speeches, Hacıosmanoğlu and Bolat signed the sponsorship agreement. The ceremony concluded with a commemorative photo session.
