Stanimir Stoilov: The disallowed goal was interesting!

Stanimir Stoilov, head coach of Goztepe, who secured a 2-1 win against Trabzonspor in the Trendyol Super Lig, commented, “Our energy and presence on the field were absolutely at the highest level, and I believe we showcased the dynamic football we wanted.” He shared his thoughts during the post-match press conference, describing the victory as excellent.

“We achieved a win against a very strong team and a great coach,” Stoilov noted, adding: “Our energy and positioning on the field were top-notch. I believe we reflected the dynamic football we aimed for. Our fans united with us today, and with their incredible support, they deserved this victory. Even when we were down to 10 men, my players never felt like they were short-handed. On the contrary, it felt like we had 12 players on the pitch because our supporters gave us extra strength. I want to specifically thank them for their contribution.”

Stoilov expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the win, stating, “We achieved this victory together today. As I always say, when we are united, no one can stop us. Now, we need to keep working in this way and continue displaying the football we want. This win also showed our players how high our level can be.”

When asked about the referee’s decisions, Stoilov remarked, “I don’t like to comment much on referees, as there are people in the federation responsible for this, but the disallowed goal was interesting. Romeo had a goal disallowed previously, and it was clearly a valid goal when reviewed later. Of course, disallowed goals like these can affect the players at the moment.”

He mentioned that during halftime, he told his players to maintain the same energy and concentration, adding, “I also told them not to sit back too much, but we needed to continue defending well. I knew that if we defended properly, we would find the goal.”

Stoilov highlighted injuries in the attacking line, recalling that after Kubilay Kanatsizkus, Romulo also got injured, and both Anthony Dennis and Isaac Solet would be suspended for next week’s match. “But we’ll overcome these challenges. It’s our job to rotate and adapt players to the missing positions. The biggest problem for us right now is in the forward line because two of our players are injured. Fofana is also not in his best physical condition at the moment.”

Stoilov emphasized the need to quickly forget about the victory and focus on the upcoming match against Gaziantep FK, noting, “Sometimes, players can get complacent after important wins, and we need to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

He concluded by mentioning Isaac Solet, saying, “He has a bright future ahead but still has areas to improve.”
