STEINER: “JOS CAN’T KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT AND THAT’S NOT GOOD FOR MAX!”

Former Haas team principal Gunther Steiner believes that Jos Verstappen’s inability to control himself when angry is not good for his son, Max Verstappen.

Red Bull has been in the spotlight since the start of the 2024 season due to Christian Horner’s lawsuit, and there have been frequent reports of internal turmoil within the team. Despite this, during the summer, Red Bull seemed to have signed some sort of ‘internal ceasefire’ to help Max Verstappen secure his third world championship.

However, Jos Verstappen’s comments made just a week ago have once again shifted the spotlight back onto team principal Horner. Jos spoke about the departures of long-term and senior team members Newey, Wheatley, and Courtenay, stating, “He always brushes this topic aside, but too many people have left the team so far.”

In an interview with GPBlog, former Haas team principal Steiner expressed his views on the matter.

Steiner said, “I’m a bit confused because Christian Horner usually has a very clear vision on these matters. I think they need to find a middle ground with Jos so that they can speak the same language to help Max win the world championship. Right now, they are really not helping each other.”

“We all know that Jos can’t keep his mouth shut when he gets angry. I’m not criticizing him for that, but I don’t know if this is what’s best for his son.”

“However, it’s hard to say who is right or wrong without knowing the internal dynamics of the team. I believe Jos is aware of the consequences of his statements to the media because he’s an intelligent person.”
