Steven Gerrard Retains Al-Ettifaq Role Amid Major Staff Reshuffle
Steven Gerrard will continue as the manager of Al-Ettifaq, despite the Saudi club making significant changes to its coaching and technical staff. The former Liverpool star remains at the helm, while assistant manager Dean Holden and sporting director Mark Allen have both parted ways with the club.
Allen, who joined Al-Ettifaq in January following his tenure as an academy coach at Manchester City, and Holden, who arrived in February, were both key figures in Gerrard’s backroom team. Their departure highlights the club’s desire to shake up its structure following recent challenges, including a disappointing exit from the King Cup.
Al-Ettifaq’s Statement and Commitment to Fans
In a statement, Chairman Sameer Almisehal emphasized the board’s commitment to supporting the technical staff and improving Al-Ettifaq’s league position. Almisehal also acknowledged fans’ frustrations and expressed gratitude for their ongoing support, expressing optimism for improved results.
With Gerrard still at the helm, Al-Ettifaq aims to turn things around and secure a competitive spot in the Gulf Champions League.
