Stoke City have named Mark Robins, former Coventry City boss, as their new manager on a three-and-a-half-year deal. Robins replaces Narcis Pelach, who was dismissed on Friday after just three months in charge.
Robins, 55, brings a wealth of experience, having managed 780 games across clubs like Barnsley, Coventry, and Huddersfield Town. His first match in charge will be against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.
New Coaching Team at Stoke
Robins will be supported by:
- Paul Nevin (former England U-20 interim head coach).
- James Rowberry (Wales men’s assistant coach).
Both assistant managers bring innovative strategies, aiming to help Stoke rebuild.
A Proven Track Record
Robins achieved notable success during his second spell at Coventry:
- Two Promotions: From League Two and League One.
- Championship Play-Off Final: Reached in 2023 but lost to Luton Town.
- FA Cup Semi-Final: Took Manchester United to penalties last season.
Stoke’s Struggles and Future Goals
Currently 18th in the Championship, Stoke aim to rise up the table while laying foundations for long-term success. Sporting director Jon Walters praised Robins for his vision:
“At Coventry, Mark built a successful team with a real identity. That’s exactly what we want at Stoke.”
Since relegation from the Premier League in 2018, Stoke have consistently finished in the bottom half of the Championship. Robins is now the seventh manager tasked with reversing their fortunes.
