TBF President Hidayet Türkoğlu on Play-in Format and Foreign Player Rule Change

Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) President Hidayet Türkoğlu expressed his optimism that the 2024-2025 season of the Turkey Insurance Basketball Super League will be more exciting due to the introduction of the play-in format and changes to the foreign player rule. Speaking to the press after the 2024-2025 season fixture draw at the Basketball Development Center, Türkoğlu shared his thoughts on the new 4+3 foreign player rule.

Hidayet Türkoğlu stated the following about the play-in format and the foreign player rule change: “I believe it will be a process where everyone feels more excitement until the end of the season. These innovations will enhance the quality and visibility of the league, leading to more games being played. We chose the 4+3 foreign player rule after consultations with the clubs to ensure that Turkish players get more playing time. Our goal is for Turkish athletes to have more opportunities on the court. We aim for a successful period for both our clubs and the national team. The success our clubs have achieved in Europe over the past six years shows how necessary this change is. Increasing the presence of Turkish players in crucial moments and at the end of games will add to the league’s excitement. We will closely monitor this process together.”
