‘This is the Way’ – Enzo Maresca Insists Chelsea Controlled the Game

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca remained positive despite his team’s 2-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, praising his players for their brave performance and insisting that Chelsea controlled much of the game. Since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino, Maresca has overseen a strong season for the Blues, and while the defeat stung, he took pride in how his team played against tough opposition.

Maresca’s Post-Match Comments

Speaking to Sky Sports, Maresca said, “We don’t like to lose or drop points, but I really liked the performance. We deserved something more but the performance was good.” He emphasized that Chelsea had control for large portions of the game, creating chances and maintaining possession, and that this approach is how he wants the team to play. “If we have to choose, this is the way. The team was brave on and off the ball,” he added.

Focus on the Bigger Picture

Maresca also reflected on the team’s overall progress, explaining that this loss doesn’t define Chelsea’s trajectory.

“I don’t think this game defines where we are. We prepared in the best way, it worked quite well.”

Despite the setback, Maresca remains confident in his squad and their approach moving forward, as Chelsea continues to build under his leadership.
