An important update emerged regarding Sergio Oliveira, the Portuguese midfielder who is no longer part of head coach Okan Buruk’s plans at Galatasaray. Despite having two years left on his contract, the 32-year-old player refused to terminate his deal during negotiations. Consequently, Galatasaray was forced to pay €5.8 million (approximately ₺218 million) in compensation, including image rights, to end his contract.

The compensation amount will be paid in installments spread over three years. According to Takvim, Galatasaray fans have shown their displeasure on social media, criticizing the management for the high payout.

The experienced midfielder has since signed a 2+1 year contract with Greek club Olympiakos. During his time at Galatasaray, Oliveira played 58 matches, contributing 6 goals and 7 assists.
