The name of Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç has been mentioned in connection with Karşıyaka, one of Izmir’s most established sports clubs. It is rumored within the Karşıyaka community that Ali Koç, who is also the Vice Chairman of Koç Holding, may provide sponsorship support to the club.
Ali Koç has served as the President of Fenerbahçe since 2018, while his father, Rahmi Koç, Honorary President of Koç Holding, has been a long-time sponsor of Beşiktaş. Tofaş, a sports club associated with Koç Holding, is also a competitor in the Turkish Basketball Super League.
In addition to his role as President of the Turkish Süper Lig Clubs Association, Ali Koç was involved in an incident during the Göztepe-Fenerbahçe match held on August 17 at Gürsel Aksel Stadium in Izmir. During halftime, while supporting Fenerbahçe fans who were unable to enter the away section, Koç was pushed and knocked to the ground by Fatih Özkan, who was working at the stadium with Göztepe accreditation.
