In an attempt to replicate their success with Martin Odegaard, Arsenal is allegedly considering making an initial loan bid for Arda Guler of Real Madrid. Even though the 19-year-old Turkish sensation showed off his enormous potential on the international front, especially during Euro 2024, he has failed to get regular playing time at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Similar to their strategy with Odegaard, who joined the Gunners on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021, Arsenal is also interested in Guler. Similar to Guler, Odegaard struggled to establish himself in Real Madrid’s midfield, which was dominated by players like Casemiro, Luka Modric, and Toni Kroos. Later that year, Arsenal took advantage of the situation and paid €40 million (£34 million/$47 million) to acquire the Norwegian permanently. Guler, who wowed supporters with his efforts for Turkey, has only played 307 minutes in the first team throughout his 12 Real Madrid appearances. In a team full of elite players, the gifted midfielder has had difficulty securing regular opportunities despite great expectations.
