Cagdas Atan: The Played Game Gave Hope for the Future!
In the 10th week of Trendyol Super Lig, RAMS Basaksehir’s head coach Cagdas Atan commented on the 1-1 draw against Eyupspor at home, stating that despite playing well, they failed to capitalize on their goal opportunities.
In the press conference held after the match at Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium, Atan said, “Everything was nearly perfect; the only missing element was finishing touches in the penalty area and getting the ball into the net.” He recalled their heavy 5-1 loss to Slovenian team Celje in the UEFA Conference League earlier in the week, adding, “After that defeat, which I saw as entirely my responsibility, today we created a great advantage in a match that we viewed as a direct competitor in terms of points. We did everything we wanted in terms of play. We had possession, made good attacks, entered the penalty area frequently, and created long situations for shots. Berke kept his team in the game.”
Atan noted that they created significant chances during the match, saying, “We are getting into clear positions, and there is also some bad luck involved. We go 1-0 down, and then we try to turn the game around. The game we played at 0-0 and 1-0 was nearly perfect. The only thing missing was finishing touches in the penalty area and getting the ball into the net. Against a well-managed team from the sidelines, a dominating game seems to lift us a bit more. We are aware that we missed a big opportunity. If we had won, we would have been ranked behind other opponents with 17 points. The played game gave hope for the future. Today, the team’s enthusiasm was very good.”
Cagdas Atan also added that Serdar Gurler’s treatment is ongoing, and he will start training with the team on Wednesday.
