Dominic Solanke Credits Postecoglou’s Influence on £65m Move to Tottenham

Dominic Solanke has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou played a key role in his decision to join the club in a record-breaking £65 million ($83m) transfer from Bournemouth in August. Since his arrival, Solanke has made an immediate impact, scoring three goals in his first eight appearances across all competitions.

Solanke, who was recently recalled to the England squad for the first time since 2017 for the upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Finland, spoke highly of Postecoglou’s influence on his decision to join Spurs. The Australian coach’s aggressive, high-pressing playing style, commonly referred to as “Ange-ball,” aligns perfectly with Solanke’s strengths as a forward.

Solanke on Postecoglou’s Style

Speaking to reporters, Solanke said:

“[Postecoglou] is a great manager, one of the reasons why I was so keen to join Tottenham. The way he plays definitely suits my style, so it’s like for like. The way he plays is very aggressive, on the front foot, pressing very high which I enjoy doing. So like he’s said, it’s a great fit.”

Postecoglou’s philosophy has seen Tottenham adopt a more attacking and dynamic approach, which has benefited Solanke in the early stages of his Spurs career. As the striker continues to settle into life at Tottenham, his performances under Postecoglou could make him an important figure in the club’s push for success this season.
