Eda Erdem Meets Güneş Çapa: A Reunion of Turkish Volleyball Legends
Eda Erdem Dündar, the current captain of the Turkish women’s national volleyball team, had a special meeting with Güneş Çapa, the first-ever captain of the national team and one of the most unforgettable figures in Turkish sports history.
Güneş Çapa, the daughter of Turkey’s first sports doctor, Selim Çapa, made her mark as the first female captain of the national volleyball team and the first woman to become a member of the Turkish Volleyball Federation. Between 1954 and 1960, she was a star not only in volleyball but also in basketball, representing Fenerbahçe with distinction—much like Eda Erdem Dündar does today.
This meeting between two iconic figures, both legends of Fenerbahçe and Turkish volleyball, bridges generations of sports excellence.
I constantly hear about the success of Turkish volleyball players. To what do you owe this success?
