Romania Head Coach Edward Iordanescu Resigns After EURO 2024
Romania’s National Team Head Coach Edward Iordanescu has stepped down following EURO 2024. The experienced coach is now in search of a new challenge in his career. Iordanescu declined a four-year contract extension and terminated his agreement with the Romanian Football Federation.

Iordanescu is ready to embark on a new professional challenge. Numerous clubs from both Europe and Asia are reportedly interested in the seasoned coach.
Leading Romania to EURO 2024
Edward Iordanescu took over as the head coach of the Romanian National Team in 2022. After an eight-year absence from major tournaments, he successfully led Romania to qualify for EURO 2024. Romania finished the qualifiers undefeated in a group that included Switzerland, Israel, and Kosovo.
During EURO 2024, Romania advanced from a group featuring Belgium, Ukraine, and Slovakia. The team reached the round of 16 before being eliminated by the Netherlands.
Previous Coaching Experience
Before his tenure with the national team, Iordanescu coached several prominent Romanian clubs, including Steaua Bucharest, CFR Cluj, and Astra Giurgiu.
