Ergin Ataman: “The New OAKA is Incredible, It Reflects Our President’s Vision”

Panathinaikos head coach Ergin Ataman spoke ahead of their first game at OAKA this season.

The reigning EuroLeague champions Panathinaikos invested significant effort this summer to renovate the OAKA arena. After the updates, the arena is now ready for the new season, featuring upgraded seating and an LED-screened glass court.

Before their upcoming home game against Bayern Munich, coach Ergin Ataman answered questions from the media, sharing his thoughts on the newly renovated OAKA. He mentioned that the arena is now close to being the best in Europe:

“The new OAKA is incredible. Its new look reflects the vision of our president, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, and the club. I always believed we had the best fans in Europe, and now I think we are very close to having the best arena in Europe as well. Once the locker rooms get a bit of a refresh, we will have the best venue in all of Europe.”

Ataman also provided updates on injured players:

“Grigonis and Papapetrou will be available for the Bayern Munich game. Ömer Yurtseven has a minor injury, so he hasn’t trained for the last two days. He trained today, and I’m hopeful he will play at 70-80% capacity, if not 100%. Hopefully, we won’t encounter any further injury issues and can be at full strength for the game.”
