After being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League playoff round by losing both matches against Young Boys, significant developments have occurred within Galatasaray. The club’s board held an emergency meeting, during which a statement was made regarding ticket scalping allegations, and the resignation of a board member was officially announced.
Galatasaray faced Swiss side Young Boys in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League playoff round. The match, held at Rams Park, ended with a 1-0 victory for the visitors. Having lost the first match 3-2, the yellow-reds exited the Champions League in the playoff round.
Continuing their journey in the UEFA Europa League, Galatasaray’s fans criticized the technical staff and management after the match.
EMERGENCY MEETING HELD
In response to these developments, the Galatasaray Board decided to hold an emergency meeting. After the meeting, which took place this evening at RAMS Park, the club released a statement.
To put an end to speculations attempting to associate our club with ticket scalping, our President, Dursun Aydın Özbek, called upon the entire Galatasaray community during a press conference on August 23rd, urging anyone with information or documents to come forward. Since then, not only has information been received, but all complaints have been treated as reports, and every transaction mentioned in these complaints has been addressed with Passo officials.
Additionally:
- A decision has been made to have an independent audit firm investigate the allegations related to the rumors. Should any misconduct be detected, legal action will be taken against those responsible.
- The development of the online ticket sales system software, requested from Passo as of last season, has been completed, and the new system has been in use since the start of the season. Efforts to further improve this system are ongoing.
- Under a new system, all season ticket holders will be granted the right to transfer their match tickets throughout the season to three designated individuals. Detailed information on this will be provided to season ticket holders. Aside from this, all other season ticket and ticket transfers have been closed.
- An application has been made to the Capital Markets Board (SPK) for an investigation regarding the speculative news.
Furthermore, our Audit Committee has informed the Board that it has initiated an investigation into the allegations within the scope of its legal authority and responsibilities. The process will continue to be shared with the public transparently.
ALİ YÜCE RESIGNS: “I WON’T BE A SECOND FIDDLE AT ANY TABLE”
It was rumored that three more names would resign alongside board member Ali Yüce, who has already stepped down, but there have been no further developments on this.
Ali Yüce, who resigned from his position at Galatasaray, stated, “I will not sit at the same table with anyone who does not put Galatasaray at the center of their life and places their personal interests above it. I had already expressed that this statement was problematic in terms of timing and procedure. I refuse to be a second fiddle at any table. I will express my discomfort and thoughts face-to-face in the management.”
