Harry Kane’s England Captaincy Not Guaranteed Under New Boss Thomas Tuchel

After being named the new manager of the national team, Harry Kane’s status as captain of England has not been confirmed by Thomas Tuchel.

Harry Kane and Tuchel, who was recently selected England’s next manager for an 18-month stint, will be back together following their time at Bayern Munich. Tuchel was instrumental in persuading Bayern to recruit Kane during their time in Germany. Kane went on to score an incredible 44 goals in his Bundesliga first season.After being named the new manager of the national team, Harry Kane’s status as captain of England has not been confirmed by Thomas Tuchel.

When asked about Kane’s future as England captain, Tuchel was non-committal, choosing to focus on the respect he has for the striker while also acknowledging that it is too early to make any final decisions:

“Everyone knows how I feel about Harry. I fought very hard to bring him to Bayern. He is already on his way to being a legend. But it’s too early to make these decisions [about the captaincy]. I want to give the respect to Lee [Carsley] and not interfere [with the next two games].”
