After a 9-year hiatus, Istanbul Park has once again opened its doors to races. Lale Cander, the circuit’s operator, stated that they are working to bring Formula 1 races back to Turkey.
The gates of Istanbul Park have reopened to Turkish athletes, racing teams, and spectators with the second and third leg races. In an interview with Habertürk, Lale Cander emphasized that these races will not be the first and only ones, adding that the necessary efforts are being made to organize Formula races at Istanbul Park again.
Cander said, “After nine years, reopening such a circuit for Turkish athletes and motorsport members is truly significant.”
“Today, we are holding the first national-level race, but it will not be the only one, and there will be continuous races afterward.”
“We aim to train highly successful young talents here, and we want to contribute to motorsports worldwide. We particularly want to see Turkish teams and drivers in Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 races.”
“Istanbul Park is a very famous circuit, and since talks began about the possibility of Formula 1 returning to Turkey, there has been great anticipation from everyone. I, too, have been following Formula 1 races recently, and I hear this interest and satisfaction from everyone.”
“We hope that it will soon be possible to host a Formula 1 race here again,” she said.
