Liverpool has started scouting potential replacements for Mohamed Salah due to ongoing uncertainty about his future.
While Liverpool has had a strong start to the Premier League season, recently defeating Wolves 2-1 to climb to the top of the table, Mohamed Salah’s future remains unclear. Salah played a key role in Liverpool’s recent win, contributing to Ibrahima Konate’s opening goal. However, with his contract set to expire next summer, he has yet to sign a new deal.
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool is preparing for a post-Salah era and has been closely monitoring Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams as potential replacements.
Young Talents on the Radar
In addition to experienced wingers, Liverpool is also tracking young stars. Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon is on the list, although Newcastle is keen to keep the young player by offering him a new contract. The club was close to selling Gordon to Liverpool for £75 million in June, but the deal fell through.
Liverpool is also interested in Freiburg’s young midfielder Merlin Rohl, adding him to their transfer targets. Reports from the German press indicate that the club has sent scouts to monitor the 22-year-old in recent months.
Freiburg is attempting to secure Rohl’s future by offering him a new contract, aiming to avoid losing him during the January transfer window. Rohl is currently sidelined with a ligament injury.
Despite the team’s strong start, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has warned his players not to get complacent. Slot emphasized that only six matches have been played and that a clearer picture of the league standings will emerge after 19 games.
