Lucy Bronze Reveals Her Ambition After Joining Chelsea: “Winning the Champions League with an English Team”
Lioness star Lucy Bronze has shared her true ambition following her high-profile move to Chelsea from Barcelona this summer. After two successful years with the Catalan giants, where she helped secure back-to-back Women’s Champions League and Liga F titles, Bronze has returned to the Women’s Super League (WSL) with her eyes set on one specific goal.
Having previously played for Manchester City, Liverpool, and Everton, Bronze explained her reasons for choosing Chelsea in her return to English football. “I was ready to do something else,” Bronze revealed. “I had in my mind that I needed to come back to England one more time. Winning the Champions League with an English team has always been my dream.”
Bronze, who won the Champions League with Lyon during her stint in France, added that accomplishing this feat with an English club would mean more to her. “Nothing would ever be as good as doing it with an English team. That’s something that I felt playing for England as well—winning a tournament with England means more to me than anything else.”
At this stage in her career, the 31-year-old defender is determined to make smart choices to achieve her remaining dreams. “I’m not at the start of my career, so I had to make smart moves to try to accomplish these dreams that I have. So, coming to Chelsea, I want to win the Champions League with an English team, and Chelsea are the best team to do that with.”
As Bronze prepares for her return to WSL action, her focus on achieving this long-held ambition will be at the forefront of her Chelsea journey.
