NBA Cup 2024: Increased prize money revealed
The prize pool for the NBA Cup has received a boost for the 2024 edition. According to Jeff Zillgitt of USA TODAY Sports, the winning team will now receive $514,970 per player. This is an increase from the previous year’s prize of $500,000 per player.
The 2024 NBA Cup prize money:
- Winning Team: $514,970 per player
- Runner-Up (Championship Game): $205,988 per player
- Semifinalists: $102,994 per player
- Quarterfinalists: $51,497 per player
For comparison, the 2023 NBA Cup saw each player on the winning team take home $500,000. The runner-up players received $200,000 each, semifinalists got $100,000, and quarterfinalists earned $50,000 per player.
The increase in prize money is tied to the growth of basketball-related income (BRI), as reported by Zillgitt.
The first NBA Cup occurred in 2023, with the Los Angeles Lakers emerging as the champions. LeBron James was named the Cup MVP after averaging 26.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.6 assists in seven In-Season Tournament games.
The Emirates NBA Cup 2024 will consist of Group Play and Knockout Rounds to crown the 2024 champion in Las Vegas on Dec. 17.
