Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui Set to Join West Ham United

Noussair Mazraoui Close to Signing with West Ham

Not Manchester United, But West Ham for Bayern Munich’s Star

Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui is on his way to England, but not to Manchester United. According to Sky Sports Germany, West Ham is very close to signing the Moroccan player with a transfer fee of €15.5 million (£13 million/$17 million) and an additional €4 million (£3 million/$4 million) in potential bonuses. They have also reached a “verbal agreement in principle” with Mazraoui, meaning there should be no issues if Bayern agrees to the transfer.

Competing Interest from Manchester United and Galatasaray

Both Manchester United and Galatasaray have shown interest in the 26-year-old defender. However, West Ham is currently leading the race to sign him. According to The Athletic, if Manchester United wants to make a bid for Mazraoui, they will first need to offload Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The 26-year-old right-back has rejected a move to West Ham and prefers a transfer to Inter Milan this summer or to leave as a free agent when his contract expires in June 2025.

Potential Swap Deal Discussions

The report also mentions that intermediaries are discussing a potential swap deal involving Wan-Bissaka moving to Inter Milan and Denzel Dumfries transferring to United. However, this idea is still in the early stages and is not yet likely.

West Ham’s Need for Defensive Reinforcements

West Ham’s need for defensive reinforcements has become more urgent following the departure of academy graduate Ben Johnson, who joined Ipswich Town on a free transfer. Mazraoui, who can play both right-back and left-back, would be a versatile addition to fill this gap.
