Pep Guardiola Ready to Make a Decision

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he will make a decision on his future at Manchester City “as soon as possible” but insists the club is well-prepared for his potential departure, with “options” already in mind for both him and outgoing sporting director Txiki Begiristain.

With Guardiola’s contract set to expire next summer, speculation has grown over whether he will continue at City or seek a new challenge. Speaking to reporters, the Spaniard acknowledged that change is inevitable, referencing Hugo Viana’s appointment as Begiristain’s successor. He also assured that Manchester City would be in good hands even if he decides to leave.

WHAT PEP GUARDIOLA SAID

“I’m pretty sure that the club have an option when Txiki leaves and they have options when Pep leaves. Sooner or later, it is going to happen, and they have options. It will not be a surprise. If I’m not convinced it’s the best for the club, I will not delay an action if I feel it is a problem for the club. I will take a decision as soon as possible, but I don’t have that feeling. That’s why the priority is Wolves.”

“Of course, if they ask me [who the next manager should be], I will give my opinion, but it is not my job. The decision belongs to the club. I would say the new sporting director, the moment I’m not here any more, he has to choose.”

Guardiola’s comments highlight City’s forward-thinking approach, ensuring that both the managerial and sporting director roles will be smoothly transitioned when the time comes.
