Following claims of rape and sexual harassment earlier this month, Swedish police have stepped up their investigation into Real Madrid player Kylian Mbappe. Swedish media sites have stated that authorities are doing more investigation into the charges, even though Mbappe has dismissed them as “fake news.”
From October 9 to October 11, Mbappe visited Sweden and stayed at the Bank Hotel in the heart of Stockholm. He reportedly visited the V nightclub and the restaurant Chez Jolie on this trip before heading back to his hotel with friends. Aftonbladet, a Swedish newspaper, reported on an alleged rape that evening on October 10. Mbappe vehemently rejected the incident on social media.
Police Exam at the Hotel
Since then, Swedish police have opened an official inquiry and apparently inspected Mbappe’s lodging. According to Expressen, forensic teams inspected the property, spoke with hotel employees and reviewing surveillance footage to determine which locations Mbappe and his group visited. Brown paper bags, most likely holding evidence for additional analysis, were observed being carried by officers as they left the hotel.
Mbappe’s Response
Mbappe quickly took to social media to dismiss the allegations, sharing the news article with a caption reading, “Fake news! Like a coincidence just before the hearing, very predictable.” His statement referenced an ongoing legal battle with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, over a €46 million lawsuit concerning unpaid wages and bonuses.
In response to the escalating situation, Mbappe’s representatives told AFP:
“A new campaign of slander from the Swedish media has begun to spread on the internet. These accusations are completely unfounded and irresponsible. All necessary legal steps will be taken to stop the spread of such misinformation.”
Bu kadar ihtişamlı bir futbolcunun böyle haberlerle anılması çok üzücü asılsız olduğunu böyle bir durumun olmadığını umuyorum
