Rodrygo upset that he’s not on the Ballon d’Or list
Real Madrid striker Rodrygo has expressed his disappointment at not making the 30-man shortlist for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. The 23-year-old Brazilian scored 17 goals and provided nine assists in 51 appearances. The player had a stunning season for the Spanish club.
Despite his contributions, Rodrygo was not nominated for the prestigious award, unlike team-mates Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. This was disappointing for the player.
Speaking toESPN, Rodrygo said:
“I was upset when I saw they didn’t include me in Ballon d’Or nominees. I think I deserved it. I don’t want to belittle the players who are there, but I think I had a place. It was a surprise… but there is not much I can do, I don’t make decisions”.
The Ballon d’Or nominees were selected by France Football ‘s editorial team in collaboration with Ballon d’Or ambassador Didier Drogba and selected members of the media. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on 28 October.
