Nicola Zalewski, who refused to renew his contract and blocked Roma from making €11 million, has faced serious consequences.
The situation with Zalewski, who turned down both Roma’s contract extension offer and Galatasaray’s bid, which would have allowed the club to earn €11 million, reached a breaking point. The Polish player, who currently earns €350,000 annually at Roma, rejected offers from the yellow-reds starting at €2 million, then €2.5 million, and finally €3 million.
REJECTED A SALARY OFFER 8.5 TIMES HIGHER
It was surprising that the 22-year-old rejected a salary increase of more than 8.5 times his current wage. According to Italian media, Zalewski’s refusal to renew his contract a year before it expires and his blocking of Roma from securing a significant transfer fee led to him being indefinitely suspended from the squad.
