RUMOR: NBA Plans to Launch a Major European League
According to Serbian media, the NBA is preparing to make a significant move into European basketball.
Speculation about the NBA becoming more active in European basketball has circulated for some time, but reports from Meridian Sport in Serbia, by journalist Djordje Matic, suggest that the NBA is now close to turning these plans into reality. The NBA is reportedly considering establishing a league in Europe that would operate independently from both FIBA and EuroLeague, potentially providing direct competition to EuroLeague.
The report states that the NBA has reached a decision stage in this initiative and is already in contact with some of Europe’s biggest clubs to discuss potential involvement.
Additionally, several EuroLeague clubs with “A licenses” are nearing the end of their contracts with EuroLeague, a factor that could further entice the NBA to move forward with its European expansion plans.
