Esteban Ocon took the risk in the Brazilian GP, where he started from 4th place, and chose to stay on the track when all the pilots entered the pit
The red flags that came after a few laps gave both Ocon and teammate Pierre Gasly an advantage. Thus, the duo changed their tires before entering the pit.
At the end of the 69-round race, Ocon was second, and his teammate was on the last step of the podium.
Speaking to Sky, Ocon said, “It was a very good day after a difficult season. It’s great to be on the podium!”
“It’s really nice to drive here and balance the performance a little in the rain.”
“Someone who is very important to us a long time ago said that the vehicles are equalized in the rain, and that’s really true.”
“I was having a hard time with the car on dry ground and I felt comfortable when it started to rain. Today was a special race for us,” he said.
