Former Fenerbahce and Turkish National Team striker Semih Senturk was attacked by pickpockets while in Barcelona with his wife for an event.
Semih Senturk, who played for Fenerbahce for many years and scored crucial goals for the national team, retired from football in 2018 and began his coaching career. He recently managed the Fenerbahce U21 Team and left his position a few months ago.
According to reports, while trying to get into a taxi in Barcelona with his wife and friends, Senturk was attacked by a pickpocket. The assailant approached him and attempted to take Semih Senturk’s bag. Senturk resisted the thief and managed to save his bag, but lost his watch from his wrist to the attacker.
PINAR SENTURK MADE A STATEMENT
After news of the incident spread on social media, Semih Senturk’s wife, Pinar Senturk, issued a statement.
“The unfortunate event we experienced in Barcelona today around noon is true. Better a loss of property than a loss of life. After the shock and sadness we felt during the incident, thankfully, my dear husband Semih Senturk was not harmed. However, we were more upset by a news headline made just as our flight was about to take off. The headline read, ‘Semih Senturk Attacked in Barcelona.’ If you knew the anxiety experienced by our families, loved ones, and especially our three daughters, you would not have thought of making such a news piece just for clicks. Fortunately, we are both well. We are safely back home. We are very grateful to everyone who called, inquired, and sent messages.”
