Sir Alex Ferguson Eyes Massimiliano Allegri as Ideal Replacement for Erik ten Hag

Ten Hag Under Pressure, Two Games to Save a Job

Following their recent 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, Erik ten Hag is apparently under extreme pressure at Manchester United; his hierarchy gives him just two more games to turn things around. Should results not show improvement, United is prepared to split ways with the Dutchman and has already shortlisted possible replacements, according La Gazzetta dello Sport.

With names like Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi and former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel cited as strong candidates, other elite managers are under United’s eye as possible successors for Ten Hag. Legendary former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, however, apparently likes ex-Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri to run Old Trafford.

Ferguson’s Preference and Future Actions of Club

Allegri is claimed to be preferred by Ferguson, who guided United to unheard-of success during his tenure as manager, because of his tactical sense and top European tournament expertise. Should United opt to alter its management, Allegri, a very successful manager with Juventus, might provide a fresh strategic approach.

Following his departure from Bayern Munich at the end of the 2023–24 season, Thomas Tuchel was connected with a summer move to Manchester United. But aiming for stability and development in Ten Hag’s tenure, the INEOS group—which affects United’s operations—extended his contract to June 2026.

Ten Hag will have to guarantee good performance in the next two games if pressure increases to keep his spot and prevent the possibility of a management transition at United.
