Matchdays Could Change to Tuesday or Wednesday

Traditionally, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League matches are played on Thursdays. However, to avoid two teams from the same city playing on the same day in UEFA competitions, some matches may be rescheduled to Tuesday or Wednesday if the fixtures clash.

Turkish Teams Will Not Face Each Other in the First Round

Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş, representing Turkey in the UEFA Europa League, will not face each other in the first round due to UEFA regulations. The three teams entered the draw from different pots: Fenerbahçe in Pot 2, Galatasaray in Pot 3, and Beşiktaş in Pot 4. However, from the Round of 16 onwards, they could potentially face each other.

New Format and Increased Number of Teams

This season marks a change in the competition format, with the number of teams increasing from 32 to 36. In the first round, each team will play eight matches (four home and four away), and the top eight teams will advance directly to the Round of 16.

Teams ranked 9th to 24th after eight matches will enter the playoffs, where eight more teams will qualify for the Round of 16. Teams ranked 25th to 36th will be eliminated without dropping to a lower competition.
